Do I need the Comcast digital tuner for my HDTV that has digital tuner(s)?

I have a new Toshiba HDTV with ATSC/NTSC & QAM digital tuners.

Since I got the TV, I have been able to receive a limited amount of digital channels with my regular Comcast cable. We just signed up today for the free basic digital cable from Comcast and they are going to rent us two digital tuner boxes (one for other tv in the house).

Do I need one of these for my new HDTV?

I have been using a normal UHF/VHF antenna and it picks up two digital channels and they’re both ABC. I just bought an HDTV antenna and I set it up and all I could get was the analog channels and non of the digital channels. I went to antennaweb also but does that really help? I need to find more HD channels but now I’m starting to think that only an outdoor antenna can pick them up. Oh, my HDTV also has an NTSC/ATSC and QAM tuners.

HDTV Antenna Question?

So I have a 47″ Philips HDTV it has everything I need to pick up the HD channels (NTSC, ATSC, QAM). I did the channel search and only two Digital channels showed up but here’s the thing they aren’t High Def and the picture is about half the size of the screen. I have Comcast Cable. I did a search on Comcast’s site and saw they’ve yet to offer HD programming in my viewing area. If I pick up an outdoor hdtv antenna can I pick up these channels then? Or will it not even matter? Thanks for any help!

Is anyone else having probelms with the QAM tuner on there Vizio 47′ LCD HDTV?

We just recently bought a Vizio 47′ LCD HDTV that has a intergrated NTSC/ATSC/ QAM Tuner in it. This allows us to get the HD channels that are available to us for free in our complex. However, our tuner is not locating any digital channels. Our network tech came in with a external QAM tuner and the TV was able to find the channels right away. We don’t want to go and spend $150 on this external tuner, especially since the TV is “supposed” to have one built in, but we don’t know what to do. I was reading the specs for the TV and came across something that made me think that there is supposed to be a certain cord plugged into the back in order for the tuner to work……. I need help, any advice would be useful. We love this TV and don’t want to send it back.

We will eventually be getting an HDTV receiver box, but we can’t right now until our network provider in our complex works out some deal with the cable company…. long story/////
we currently have digtal cable, but not HD. Our complex network has made HD channels available to us for free without needed a HD box. All you are supposed to need is a QAM tuner.
