Assuming that you are close enough to receive them and have some sort of antenna, you will receive broadcast channels.

You can put your address in here

and it will tell you how far you are away from various broadcast towers and how good of an antenna system you will need in order to get them.

The ASTC tuner is the tuner needed to receive digital channels from over-the-air broadcasters (via an antenna). HD cable set top boxes will also broadcast over channel 3 or 4 to an HDTV with the ATSC tuner.

Basic cable systems mostly broadcast in the older analog format which requires the NTSC tuner. Some cable systems also broadcast digital channels which are unscrambled (in the clear). These clear channel digital broadcasts (over a cable system) require the QAM tuner. So you should be looking to see if your TV supports a NTSC and QAM tuner for attachment to a basic cable system with NO cable set top box.

Yes, you can get over-the-air HD. You will know how strong the signal is by how many times the screen gets “pixilated”. Read more at .
