Is My HDTV HD-Built in or HD-Ready?
aconegliano asked:
I just bought a 32′ Sharp Aquos from ebay and it says it has the NTSC/ATSC/QAM tuners built in. But it also says on the auction that its hd-ready. I thought that the tuners make it HD built in. On the manufacturers page it doesnt say built in or hd ready. Which one is it and can someone explain why?

By saying “Built-in ATSC/QAM/NTSC Tuners”, it means that it has an HD tuner. Therefore, this TV would not be considered HD-ready. HD-ready means that it does not have a built-in tuner.
Either two things are happening:
1) eBay seller listed the wrong specs.
2) eBay seller listed the wrong model.

It’s my understanding that ATSC is the HD tuner. My TV truly is “HD Ready” and does not have that ATSC tuner.
