I have a 1080i HDTV and am wondering is it possible to watch video tapes or dvds made in the PAL format on it?

I have a dvd player that is region 0 and has a video converter built in and PAL dvd’s play on my HDTV, but am wondering will my vhs player and a dvd player with no video converter play PAL also. PAL dvds and VHS would not obviously play on a NTSC t.v. in the past due to the difference in both standards, but I am wondering if this has changed due to the ATSC standard on HDTV’s.

    No. Pal will not play through.
