Easy. Good. Yes. No…. the ATSC tuner will tune your local terrestrial broadcasts in just fine with a good antenna hooked up properly. Go to for more info on which stations are available in your area.

will accomplish the same task of getting HD into your home….
You need an ATSC tuner (you have that) and an antenna…a good one, MAYBE an RF amp from Radio Shack if your using a TABLETOP antenna instead of an OUTDOOR antenna….
Now all you need to do is hook it up to the correct antenna jack (Digital antenna may be separate from UHF/VHF or Cable antenna connector). Then you select Digital/ATSC or UHF antenna, then AUTOPROGRAM your TV set….
Your instruction manual is better and more CONCISE than I can be, since it knows what your Brand and Model is…..I don’t.
But that’s the general operation of ATSC HD tuning….
As for DIRECT TV, you need the HD box from them….and you still get your Low Def stations at the same channel numbers….but…..your local HD stations are normally found in the 800 series of channels….could be the 300 series or even the 500 series…
Needless to say they will be bunched together.
AND you must use the Component or HDMI connector on the Direct TV box to get the HD signal INTO your TV….
