If I have a satelite HD receiver, will I need an ATSC tuner, or is that only for over the air. My TV is a SONY 42 inch LCD rear Projection. Do I need to purchase a tuner for the tv or will the Satelite receiver and HDMI cables take care of bidness?

Even if you have a tv that has an ATSC tuner, it still would not pick up the regular HD channels from your satellite. You would have to get an HD box to pick up your HD channels. The difference is that tv’s with ATSC tuners built right into it is able to pick up your locals channels over the air waves through your HD antannae. Usually there are only a few channels.
I would suggest that you speak to your local electronics store and ask them more about the channels that you can receive through the ATSC tuner and an HD antannae. Chances are there are not a lot of channels. And to get most of the popular channels you would have to subscribe to HD Satellite.

If you get satellite, and it gives you all you need, you do not need an ATSC tuner. The tuner is only for over the air reception. Note that satellite and cable often do not carry 100% of available local OTA broadcasts. Some independent stations may be left out, and any sub-channel programs (e.g. 5-2, 5-3, etc.) may not be carried.

Forget the “ready” stuff, that is for saving money. Get what is called “Full HD”. Anything else is already out-of-date. And be sure to buy a 46 inch or better screen.
