You won’t need a converter box.
Do you have cable or satellite service? If not, you will need an antenna to receive over-the-air broadcasts. The bigger the antenna is, and the higher it’s mounted, the better.

She will need an antenna…all TVs need antennas if you don’t get cable or satellite.
