bjmarchini asked: I am planning to upgrade my TV to a 32″ 16:9 LCD TV by Christmas. I saw a Vizio (refurbished) on sale at TigerDirect for $420 (ATSC/NTSC HDTV 720p/1080i). Seems that most are between 500-600. I have been reading that there will be some serious price drops because of slow sales of these TVs.
I really do not want get it until closer to the holidays although I could . I just **** the idea of putting it off and paying more later. On the other hand, I would **** to find that I could have waited til November and picked up a NEW one for a similar price.
I have a 27″ flat CRT TV now (2 years old) and am in no need to get it sooner.
For me LCD is the way to go. I have a home theater PC, and it will also be used with video games so Plasma is out (Plasma has screen burn issues). I am also ruling out the DLP. 720p is better for the windows desktop than 1080i which is what most DLPs project – leads to blurry text when interlaced. Plus I live on a 2nd floor apartment – size/weight

Brian B asked: I have a new Toshiba HDTV with ATSC/NTSC & QAM digital tuners.
Since I got the TV, I have been able to receive a limited amount of digital channels with my regular Comcast cable. We just signed up today for the free basic digital cable from Comcast and they are going to rent us two digital tuner boxes (one for other tv in the house).
Do I need one of these for my new HDTV?

Dave asked: SEEKING a 52″, LCD, 120hz, 1080p HDTV w/high contrast ration 16:9; ATSC; HDCP, etc
I’ve done a lot of research but I am still confused. Obviously, the two most popular are Samsung and Sony ($$$). The problem is, the Samsung A550=60hz only; 650 had many problems; the 750 and 850 (what I was going to get) also have significant issues. The 750 has a VERY well documented (see AVS forum) “Halo Effect” due to overly shiny screen (a trick to cheat and get a higher contrast ratio) and 850- no “Halo effect” but a major infrared issue that blocks 90% of other remotes from working. Both the 750+850 TOC bezels chip. I’ve spoken with Samsung and they have confirmed these major flaws- one guy said their work around is duct tape or turn your cable box to a 45 degree angle- neither of which are acceptable on a 2k+ purchase! The Sony is very $$$ and the pq is just ok, If I did go with Sony, which model and please be specific as to why. I also welcome your thoughts on any other competitors that offer great picture quality..
