With that in mind, due to my layoff/firing, cable tv is out of the question, and I don’t even have internet, brand new house wit no cable, internet, or house phone, we are going nuts here!!

So yeah sorry to sidetrack but what type of antenna can I use to take advantage of the FREE over the hair HDTV, i.e. free digital tv?

and where can I get this antenna?

What works best and why?

My manual does not say anything about ATSC, but bestbuy says it has a built in HDTV tuner, but where and how would i get hook up said antenna?

do tell, thank you kindly!

ATSC/QAM TV Tuner and Satellite Signal, can they work together?

SpdRacer asked:

Hello all,

I have been trying to figure out if I can get my ATSC /QAM TV Tuner attached to my PC to pick up the signal off my Dish Network sat box. From what I understand it will not work directly as the signal is encrypted, but once it has been decrypted by the satellite box then fed back out would it work if plugged into my ATSC/QAM TV Tuner?
Is there anything I could do different in the settings of the Tuner?
It says it will work with unencrypted Cable signal, does this hold true for Satellite signal as well?

I have a Sarbrent Digital HDTV Tuner ATSC/QAM

Needless to say it is not working at the moment, all I can get is the ATSC channels over the air, I dont even care about HD content I just want to be able to watch all the channels on my tv since I only have a big monitor and an old small tv.
Thanks for any help or advice!

What all do I need to do to watch HDTV? ?

funinsun asked:

My tv has built-in ATSC digital / NTSC analog tuner, receives conventional analog broadcasts, as well as digital broadcasts, including HDTV programming where available. However the manual says I must have a source of HD programming in order to take full advantage of an HDTV. Otherwise, the picture quality of an HDTV without an HD source may not be much better than that of a standard-definition TV. What else is needed? I would like to avoid having to purchase any more service/equipment from my cable company if at all possible. If you can explain in really simple terms that would be great. Thanks for your hep.

NTSC HDTV PAL ps3?

Sunday, October 4th, 2009
Nafe asked:

I was thinking of buying a lcd HDTV off eBay because I have a Playstation 3 and want to play it with maximum picture quality, the tv i’m looking at is full HD 1080p, 8000:1 contrast ratio and looks perfect. The only problem is it says its “TV system ATSC, NTSC”. I live in the UK and my Playstation 3 is PAL region 2.
Will this be a problem? Can you play a PAL PS3 on a NTSC TV and if so will the quality still be as good? I have sky digital aswell, will it all still work on a NTSC TV? Will Dvd’s play on this TV if they are region 2? Help please, any answers appreciated, thanks

More specifically, are there some HDTV’s with which you dont need to have a HD cable/Satellite box? Are the options only useful when considering OTA broadcast? Which option is best for most users? and why?
