HDTV Antenna Question?

Saturday, September 26th, 2009
x7thdayx asked:

So I have a 47″ Philips HDTV it has everything I need to pick up the HD channels (NTSC, ATSC, QAM). I did the channel search and only two Digital channels showed up but here’s the thing they aren’t High Def and the picture is about half the size of the screen. I have Comcast Cable. I did a search on Comcast’s site and saw they’ve yet to offer HD programming in my viewing area. If I pick up an outdoor hdtv antenna can I pick up these channels then? Or will it not even matter? Thanks for any help!

Can I use my computer to watch HDTV?

Saturday, September 26th, 2009
Pedro asked:

Here’s my thing. I currently have a brand new computer pretty much up to date. I also have a regular flat screen analog tv with my main use of digital cable through my service provider via it’s tv top box. I’m always on the computer and I don’t want to buy a HDTV just yet. I’ve been hearing about hardware such as Hauppauge Computer
Win TV-HVR-1600 PCI Hybrid Video Recorder. This and other hardware sounds as if you can install this onto your computer and with it’s equipped ATSC HDTV receiver and so forth, I can use the digital cable box and my flat widescreen to view HDTV. I don’t know much of this sort of technology but I need help before I purchase anything.

Samsung Lcd HDTV?

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009
confeuzdus asked:

Samsung 32″ HDTV w/Integrated ATSC Tuner
model # LNT3242HX/XAA
1) What is your opinion on this model? Price is $949.00
2) If this TV has a DVI input connection. Do I need to buy a HDMI cable also? Or is the DVI connection pretty much the same? This is for the connection from Digital Cable Box to TV.
3) My Comcast HD Digital Cable Box only has DVI, and whole bunch of colored hole. They gave me a bag of cables that correspond(match) the colored holes in the back of the cable box.

I Can I use these colored wires? Do I need to buy a HDMI cable (for which I don’t have a hole to place it in, on the back of my HD Cable box)? Should I buy a DVI cable (HD Cable box HAS a hole for this and the TV has a hole for this)? I’m going with DVI cable and/or colored wires
YOUR OPINIONS AND ADVICE IS APPRECIATED .
THANK YOU.

Watching analogue signal with a built-in ATSC?

Saturday, September 12th, 2009
Mike_Platini asked:

I’ve just bought a LCD HDTV with a built-in ATSC tuner (not NTSC tuner). Does that mean that I could not watch traditional analogue programs (NTSC) ?

Thank you.

Can an ATSC Tuner use 480p?

Saturday, September 5th, 2009
Diog asked:

I know that an ATSC HDTV Tuner can do 480i, 720p, and 1080i. The real question is, can they do 480p?!?

I mean, if they can do 720p, shouldn’t they be able to do 480p??!??

I’ve only seen 480i Standard Definition on ATSC Tuners, including what Comes Built-in with today’s TV’s. I mean, why is noone using 480p for SD for DTV?!?

And what about MultiCasting Channels?!? Why are they only 480i, and not 480p?!?
