My Samsung LNT4061F not detecting Digital signal?

Hi All,
I purchase a Samsung LNT4061F last night and as I was setting up the channels, I notice my television isn’t detecting digital signals. This unit has built in HDTV/ATSC/NTSC/QAM-Tuner. My current set-up is cable wire to Comcast On demand cable box and from cable box to TV. Am I suppose to purchase a hd antenna? While I read the manual, there’s a section where it shows the strength of the digital signal, on my TV that option isn’t highlighted and I can’t choose that option. Please help me, newbie here!..

Greatly Appreciated!

Why don’t TV stations change their HDTV broadcasts?

Television stations have selected one of two HDTV formats to transmit on; 1080i60 or 720p60. This is all fine and dandy for original programming but not for movies and some cartoons that are made originally 24 frames per second. Case and point; FOX transmits 720p60 all the time and when a new episode of the Simpsons airs interlace artifacts can be seen as a side effect of telecine. The ATSC standards state 28 different standards for DTV transmissions total and 12 for HDTV specifically. So why does FOX (and all TV stations for that matter) choose to transmit at a none native frame rate when the ATSC specs are so flexible? Why do they use telecine when its not necessary? If they would just follow the ATSC standards ANY video source can be played back natively.
Ok apparently people are not understanding this question. I want to know why, given all the flexibility in frame rates that the ATSC standard, do TV stations only transmit on one frame rate. This has NOTHING to do with the transmitter, it has EVERYTHING to do with the MPEG2 transport stream. Normally this isn’t a problem going from 30 or 29.97 fps to 60 or 59.94 fps, its just a matter of doubling every frame. This is, however, a problem when you go from 24 fps (cartoons movies) to 60 fps and this is especially a problem in cartoons because telecene introduces interlace artifacts that show up easily on the high contrast and colorful video. Why can’t TV stations change the frame rate in accordance with the media they playing? This is the whole reason why the ATSC made this standard so flexible; so all media can be transmitted in its native frame rates of 23.976, 24, 24.975, 25, 29.97, 30, 59.94, 60 fps.

Where can I find a quality set-top QAM-capable reciever for my new HDTV?

Everything I find has vast shortcomings such as:

480i output max
Title states QAM but description breakdown doesnt
Output formats reflect outdated hardware

I have a friend with a built-in QAM tuner in his tv that recieves tons of HD channels. Premium channels included, plugged straight into the cable jack(no reciever box). His service may be a fluke, but he just has the free cable service provided by Comcast when you purchase their internet service for so long. He bought his QAM capable tv and plugged it in to find a plethora of free channels just as the Circuit City salesmen said would happen from the QAM tuner.

I would really appreciate some names of set-top recievers that are ATSC as well as QAM capable that can give me similar results and with 1080i output.
